Farewell First Grade

We've had so much First Grade Fun this year!  Click to see our Farewell video.

Spring Harvest 2018

Harvest time in 1S!

The time had come to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

The students tried, strawberries, peas, and lettuce that they had planted earlier this Spring.

The students tried all three, and actually all three were a hit!

The students really enjoyed their learning in the garden this Spring!
Thank you to our garden helper, Mrs. Hellman for giving us seeds and feedback on our garden activities.

The students planted sweet potato seedlings that they will be able to come back and harvest in the fall as second graders.  So exciting!

Fiction Author Visits 1S

Fiction novelist, Jillian Thomadsen, visited our classroom to talk about her experience as a writer.  Mrs. Thomadsen shared that she wrote her first book at the age of 7.  The book was about a witch, and she carried the book around and wrote whenever and wherever she could.  Mrs. Thomadsen's son also shared a book that he recently published with his mom. The book, written about baseball, was a hit!😀 To see him reading the book to the class, click below.

Although she went to school for business and finance (and worked at a financial firm after college), Mrs. Thomadsen did not give up her passion for writing.  She pursued her dream, and she was able to fully publish her most recent book this past year.  The book is called All The Hidden Pieces, and it is a suspense mystery novel written for adult readers.

It was very interesting to hear about Mrs. Thomadsen's experience as a writer.  If you are interested in reading Mrs. Thomadsen's book it is available on Amazon.  Click here! Thank you for taking the time to talk to our class about becoming a published author, Mrs. Thomadsen.
